Weekend Tidbits: Terra 28th Playground at BGC

The weekend that passed saw Hon-some and I waking up really early to have breakfast at McDonald's with his niece.  Then we decided to spend time at the playground in Bonifacio Global City at 28th Street.  I love this playground.  Instead of building one mall after another, I wish there'd be more parks and playgrounds.  This particular playground is open to the public, by the way.

Growing up can wait...

What I particularly love about this playground is that there is an area devoted to Filipino games such as...

Do you still know what "patotot" means? :)

Such a fun waste bin!

I love this chameleon.

You can turn the knobs to change colors.

Then we stopped by Jamba Juice for drinks and saw this nearby...

So eggzeighted!

The weekend that was.  Have a great week ahead of you, lovelies!

Let's Go on a Date: June 2012

I mentioned recently that Hon-some and I just celebrated our first anniversary and that I made this gift for us.  Last night, we pulled out the June date plan from its envelope:  a meal at North Park.  In the previous post, I also mentioned that most of the dates were prepaid already.  For the North Park meal, I purchased a deal over at Ensogo.  We had dinner at North Park and redeemed our vouchers which consisted of a bowl of Ultimate Noodles, a Taipao, and a glass of iced tea.

When we arrived at North Park, the attendant took a look at our two vouchers and said, "Ma'am, pang-2 to 3 persons na po yung noodles," seemingly implying that we might want to redeem just one voucher and share the noodles.  But Hon-some told him to redeem both vouchers.

The bowl of noodles really was huge!  People from other tables shot us curious glances as in "Bakit tig-isa sila ng malaking bowl and siopao?"

But then...

...after being told a bowl was good for 2-3 persons...

...and devouring our own share...

...anong 2-3 persons?!?!?!

Hahahahaha!  Hon-some and I were exchanging evil laughs in the car on our way home ("Two to three persons daw o!  Panis!").  I have to be honest, though.  We took home the taipao.  It made for a satisfying lunch the next day.
Hon-some remarked the two of us had the combined (eating) powers of half a dozen soldiers.

I beg to disagree.

We have the combined (eating) powers of half a dozen construction workers.  :)

The One About Going Back to the Basics

Last May 27th, my parents and I drove to Laguna for this event:

My mom and I were giddy with excitement.  My mom is especially into this kind of thing -- holistic, organic, natural products and recreation.  Being city people, we love the provincial/country life so it was exciting to get out of the city and enjoy some organic fun in the farm.

My mom. :)

This is what greeted us at the entrance.

The farm featured several activities for the visitors:

A petting area

A play area equipped with a rope climbing wall and tire swings.

Boating

More play areas

Fishing

Pony rides

I took shots of other interesting things:

There was a small rice paddy.

A charming birdhouse

A bath area

Quotes like this were dotted around the farm.  Take note that the quote was painted on canvas cloth.  Lovely alternative to tarp.

The gazebo served as the resting and refreshments area.  Several stalls sold homemade organic lunches and food items.  I was supposed to get a jar of mushroom tapenade but decided to get two bottles of fresh guyabano juice from Holy Carabao instead.

We also went around the stalls that sold lots of good stuff:

Refurbished furniture

Artworks

Waldorf toys (my mom and I went nuts over these!)

I saw these taka horses at the Human Nature booth but they weren't for sale.  I almost jumped for joy when I saw this stall further down the fair...

Pretty, pretty takas made contemporary.

I wanted a traditional one, though, so this went home with me.  It came with a bayong.

These came home with me too.

It was a fun, fun, fun day!  Nowadays when children rarely go out and are usually stuck to their PSPs (hence, obesity and super short attention span; hehehe!), a fine day at the farm is a good option for a recreational activity to explore their world and stimulate their senses with natural textures, organic playmates (animals), and fresh, fresh produce.
