The One About the Wedding Crafts

Hon-some and I attended a wedding two Saturdays ago in Tagaytay.  I was a bridesmaid.  And the bride asked me to get my crafty hands to work by creating the fascinators of the bridesmaids and the boutonnieres of the groom and groomsmen following the vintage theme of the wedding and the color scheme of blush and gray.

I started making samples of the boutonniere last year.  I first wrote about them here.  Here's how the wedding boutonniere has evolved:

 This was one of the first two samples I made.  Early on, I knew I wanted to use skeleton keys but then I didn't have any back then.  Nor did I know where to find some.

 Luckily, my friend in Singapore found some in a craft store there, leading me to making these.  But the bride and groom wanted silver leaves so...

This was the final design. :)

The groom's boutonniere had to be a bit distinct so I whipped out my resin-making kit and made a pendant.

I used the groom's initial on the pendant.  I would have wanted to use "G" to stand for groom and his bride's initial but...I wasn't the bride and had to follow as requested :)

For the bridesmaids...

 

 The bride wanted a small and unobtrusive fascinator.  This was my first sample and the it got a thumbs-up right away from the bride!  It was also the most fun to make!

The One About the Wedding Boutonniere

A dear friend of mine is getting married next year and she asked me to make samples of boutonnieres for the groomsmen.  Her wedding motif is blush and silver-gray and she wanted a vintage-themed celebration.  Vintage-themed weddings are the best, in my opinion.  It evokes so much love and intimacy unlike other themes that border on extravagance and pretenses.

So anyway, when I was brainstorming for the designs of the boutonnieres, I thought of the concept of "key to my heart."  Really, what could be more vintage than that?

I came up with two samples.  This is Boutonniere 1:

 Note to self:  Be mindful not to expose the holes of the pearls.  Haha!

I used a vintage-looking fabric to cover the key.

I used regular keys for the samples but when everything is finalized, I'd love to use those vintage skeleton keys.  I hope I can find a handful of those by then.

Picture-Perfect Thursday: Our Wedding Photos

I  know it's only Wednesday but I figured it wouldn't hurt to post a Picture-Perfect post a day earlier than its scheduled posting given that I've been MIA from it for a while now.  This week, I'd like to share some images on the day when Hon-some and I took on an adventure that changed the course of our lives - marriage.

The groom

 I made sure my little bro wouldn't miss out on this special day.  I strung his toy car through a necklace and I held it for the most part of the wedding.

 I wore a fascinator/birdcage veil.

 Our motif was deep purple and leaf green.

 The dinner reception was held at C3 Events Place.  Lovely place.

Forever, indeed, began on that day.  To bliss and beyond!
