The One When We Got Pacquiao-ed

Check out what Teddy Bird and I bought last weekend:

It's our first pre-conjugal property!

Oh well. When you're preparing to get married, who needs a couch, anyway? :)

The One That's Some Kind of Wonderful

June 20, 2010 was when...

...Manila experienced heavy traffic because families went out to celebrate Father's Day.

...John Lloyd Cruz admitted to The Buzz that he is going steady with Shaina Magdayao.

...an oil spill happened in the Gulf of Mexico.

...Miley Cyrus co-hosts the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards.

...some kid, by the name of Graeme McDowell, won the U.S. Open Championship.

...Paraguay defeated Slovakia (2-0) at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

...Nicole Kidman celebrated her birthday...

...so did Lionel Richie.

...Teddy Bird gave me flowers for the first time.

...and then with those blooms, he gave me a rock.

My single days are officially numbered. :)

The One About The Personal Library Kit

Twig and Thistle is one of my favorite blogs. It's in my Google Reader, in fact, so I won't miss out on its newest posts. I chanced upon this beautiful personal library kit. I have a number of friends who happen to be bookworms and two of them were my co-teachers in preschool before. I thought they'd love having this kit so when I met up with them for our Binondo food tripping, I made these kits for them.

Each kit had checkout cards and checkout card holders.

This is a page saver. From now on, I'm calling all my bookmarks "page savers" as in: "I need to take a break from reading for some tea and scones but I can't quite find my page saver." And I say this with a British accent. :)

A book journal to keep track of overdue books or as a wishlist of books to have and read. There are also tabs to keep the checkout cards organized alphabetically.

I printed everything on pink cardstock because the color looks lovely with expresso brown. I tied all the contents with a gold ribbon and placed them in brown boxes which I found at The Wrap Shop.

I placed the bandwrap around the box then wrote my friends' names in front.

The happy recipients!

The kits would also be great as book club favors and book-themed party giveaways. See the kit and instructions here. Happy crafting!

The One About The Binondo Food Trip (Part 3)

After dining at Cafe Mezzanine, my friends and I walked on to nearby Eng Bee Tin to stock up on Chinese goodies such as hopia, peanut bars, and fortune cookies. My Big Binondo Food Wok Map has a coupon and that allowed me to bring home an extra pack of hopia. Our next stop was supposed to be La Resurreccion. I have been wanting to try their tablea (chocolate) but unfortunately, they were closed.

That's okay, though. There were more food places to explore. Our next stop was a super, super, super hole-in-the-wall place in Binondo. Dong Bei Dumplings is known for its fresh dumplings.

In fact, the dumplings are made right in front of you!

We decided to try their Chinese pancakes. The pancakes have the same filling as the dumplings.

We thought the pancakes were real winners!

Next stop was Sincerity Cafe and Restaurant. After KFC, nothing else beats the chicken here. I forgot to take a picture, though, but trust me. People rave about the chicken here.

I ordered some chicken to go and my friends did the same thing as they thought they were still full from the Chinese pancakes. While waiting for our order, each of us opened a fortune cookie.

I had to leave after my order arrived but not without leaving my friends with gifts I made for them (more on that in my next post). :) I told them to try Masuki afterwards since the Big Binondo Food Wok Map had a coupon for a free bowl of noodles and siomai. They did try it out...

...but I guess they didn't like it there.

The day ended with a calesa ride.

That ends my Binondo Food Trip with my friends. There are still so many places to try there that I can't wait to go there again! :)
