Wednesday Nugget

If you're going through something that makes you want to rip someone's neck open because he's young, inexperienced, inconsiderate, and brainless (okay, I'm stopping now.  And no, he's not Hon-some!)...don't let it break you.

These days I just pray and ask God to put me in the right place.  With that, here's to a happy midweek. :)

Seriously.  Happy midweek!

Wednesday Nugget

A lot of times, I wish I was one of those people who craft for a living.  It suits my introverted personality.  But I love teaching too much to want to say goodbye.  So now I am grateful that I get to do both -- and also the fact that I have killer time management skills to manage both of them!

I think everyone is bestowed with the desire to create something.  And I'm particularly happy that the handmade movement here in the Philippines is starting to become strong and delightfully active!  And so, here's to that creative desire and the burgeoning handmade movement. :)

On another note, Hon-some and I are featured in Craft MNL's blog.  This month of love, they're featuring crafters and their craft-supportive significant others.  Hon-some and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day but I think this feature hits the Valentine spot if ever.

You can click on the screenshot to see the feature.  With that, happy midweek!

Let's Go on a Date: February 2013

A pair of hungry tummies.

A box of chicken (6 pieces!).

 You get the drift.

The One about the Father's Day Trophies

Here's a nifty idea for a gift that kids can make for their dads.  My students and I had a Father's Day event (Games and Grub!) in school and we had a mini-sportsfest.  We played games and feasted on pizza and juice afterward.

My students and I made these trophies that were apt to the theme:

We taped two  paper cups together, added handles that were cut out from cardboard, and painted the whole thing gold.  Then we glued on letter cutouts that read either "#1 PAPA" or "#1 DAD."

Nice and nifty!

Happy crafting!

Let's Go on a Date: January 2013

Aaaaaaannnnnndddddd I'm back!!!  And I have a valid excuse for not blogging.  My laptop had acted weirdly for the past two weeks.  Thankfully, it seems okay now (crossing my fingers)!

I'd like to document our January date.  But before I do that, allow me to admit we failed to pursue doing the ones for November and December... :(  Life got in the way and we would just have to manage our time to squeeze those dates in sometime soon.

Anyhoo, this is what awaited this month:

We were giddy when we opened the box because we haven't binged on pizza in a long time!  So it was just perfect to know we had enough GC's in the date envelope for an 18-inch pizza!  Hahaha!  We had leftover pizza even on the following day!

Date nights rule, I swear!

The One About the Three Square Meals (and Good Company!)

Breakfast at Milky and Sunny:

This charming all-day breakfast place is located in the foodie-booming Kapitolyo area in Pasig.

I love breakfast food and I love breakfast dates.  Went here with my good friend, Ginger, to discuss wedding crafts.  She has asked me to make boutonnieres, fascinators, and a paper bouquet for her entourage.

 Chocolate-peanut butter pancakes with bananas

Lunch:  Cab Cafe

For lunch, Ginger and I met up with Pia and Dindean who flew in for the holidays from Singapore.  Ginger (the bride-to-be) made these paper crafts.  I'm Ruff, by the way. :)

Inside were a scroll and a chunky ring!

 Sweeeeeeet!!!!

Looks like the MOH has her hands full!

Cab Cafe is also located in the Kapitolyo area.  Eggplant pizza.

 Pinoy Deli Spaghetti.  So. Good!

 Truffled Mushroom Pasta

Dinner:  Nihonbashitei

Don't think I'll ever stop gushing over the food in Nihonbashitei.  Really good!  For dinner, I met up with Hon-some and joined his officemates.  This is my favorite:  spicy tuna sashimi.

 Prawn tempura

Kakiage tempura

Felt like the very hungry caterpillar at the end of the day.  Hahaha!  Oh well...now I need to do extra hours of yoga to become a butterfly. :)
